About the exhibition opportunity: We are inviting 2024 HSC Visual Arts students from Lake Macquarie and surrounding areas to be part of the MAC yapang First Class 24 exhibition. Artworks may reflect a range a range of media including but not limited to, painting, drawing, printmaking, photomedia, moving image and sculpture. We are thrilled to give the Hunter region’s emerging artists the opportunity to show their talent.

Open to: 2024 HSC Visual Arts students from Lake Macquarie and surrounding areas.

Please nominate work/s for possible selection, in which the student shows evidence of accomplished technical skill, and engages with high degree of conceptual and visual resolution.

Submission: This electronic SmartyGrants application is to be completed by you (the artist) and your parent/guardian (only if you are under 18 years of age). Whilst we strongly encourage artists to independently submit their applications, we understand that teachers may be required to assistance in the process.

Selection of exhibiting artists announced via MAC yapang website: Friday 22 November 2024

Delivery of artwork to MAC yapang: By appointment Tuesday 21 - Thursday 23 January 2025, 9am - 3pm 

Exhibition opening event: Sunday 16 February 2025, event time TBC

Exhibition dates: Saturday 15 February - Sunday 6 April 2025

Collection of artwork from MAC yapang: By appointment Tuesday 8 April - Thursday 10 April 2025, 9am -4pm

Prior to entry:

  • Please ensure you have read, understood, and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  • Please have high resolution images available of your artwork in an accepted file format. There is a maximum file limit of 25 megabytes per application. However, it is strongly recommended you try to keep files under 5 megabytes. For IPad and IPhone users, ensure your file has been converted from HEIC to an accepted file type or take your image without the 'live' function.
  • For moving image artworks, be ready to upload some high resolution still images and send your artwork by WeTransfer to firstclass@lakemac.nsw.gov.au with your full name in the title. Please ensure your video is in an accepted file format and is exhibition ready including any on screen credits.
